Over the past few years, problems of mental health at work have become more and more preoccupying. They represent one of the significant causes of absenteeism, and hence result in human and financial costs for employees as well as for businesses and for society as a whole.

The Jessie Hébert Fund of the Louis-H. Lafontaine Hospital Foundation supports research on addiction and suicide. Last year, The Jessie Hébert fund awarded a 10,000$ scholarship to Dr. Stephane Potvin to continue his research on substance abuse and mental health.

Last August 17, the Foundation of the Louis-H. Lafontaine Hospital held the sixth edition of its Golf Open at the Boucherville Golf Club, under the honorary presidency of François Castonguay, Chairman of the Board of the Foundation and President and CEO of Uniprix. An amount of $82,000 was raised thanks to the generosity of the 132 golfers and numerous sponsors.

MONTREAL, June 28, 2010 - Overcoming the fear of body dysmorphic disorder: Psychological support for what some may think are cosmetic issues — Getting a nose job to treat a mental health problem? Whitening your teeth to overcome a severe anxiety disorder? These are not exactly what one would call effective therapies. Unfortunately, these procedures are what people with body dysmorphic disorder (BDD) turn to in order to deal with their body-related concerns.
