Laurent Mottron concentre sa recherche sur le traitement de l'information dans l'autisme, particulièrement les surfonctionnements perceptifs.
Il collabore principalement avec les autres chercheurs du site de l'Hôpital Rivière-des-Prairies, mais est aussi engagé dans l'inclusion, dans son laboratoire, d'étudiants et de chercheurs travaillant sur l’autisme dans la recherche sur cette condition.
Intérêts de recherche
- Neuropsychologie des troubles envahissants du développement, dans les secteurs suivants: perception des stimuli complexes visuels et auditifs, mémoire de travail et mémoire à long terme, calcul, attention, résumé de l'intelligence.
- Transformation développementale des signes autistiques ; sous-groupage des troubles envahissants du développement; modèles humains de l'autisme; plasticité cérébrale dans les troubles envahissants du développement; localisation cérébrale dans l'autisme; troubles envahissants du développement sur syndromes neurologiques identifiés (agnosie visuelle, encéphalite herpétique, syndrome de West); surfonctionnements cognitifs; savant-syndrome; signes précoces des troubles envahissants du développement.
