Profile

André Marchand is interested in the cognitive and behavioural evaluation and treatment of anxiety disorders, primarily panic disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder and, more recently, generalized anxiety disorder. He is also interested in the comorbidity of anxiety disorders. While attempting to develop precise evaluation tools, he focuses above all on identifying the most efficient intervention modalities for treating individuals. His goal is to better understand the factors and mechanisms that produce therapeutic effects and better define the processes which underlie therapeutic changes. He is dedicated to evaluating the costs associated with therapeutic effects, as well as the benefits for patients. He studies the usefulness of applying new technologies to the treatment of anxiety disorders (e.g., virtual reality, telepsychotherapy). His research projects are conducted in collaboration with clinician-researchers from various universities and research centres and especially with clinicians from departments specializing in the treatment of anxiety disorders, hospitals (local clinics), EAPs, CLSCs and support groups.
