Research

Research Subjects and Objectives

The majority of TSC’s research relates to:

· evaluating the efficacy of various approaches to evaluating PTSD;
· evaluating the efficacy of various forms of psychological and pharmacological treatment for PTSD;
· risk factors for PTSD and means of protecting against them;
· primary and secondary prevention of PTSD.

Evidence-based data obtained in the research is used to develop effective treatments for the various affected groups and types of trauma, such as:

· traffic accidents
· Workplace accidents
· Assault
· Combat experiences
· etc.

Dissemination of Knowledge

Overall results are disseminated to the scientific community via scientific publications and presentations at conferences in order to ensure that the knowledge obtained is passed on.

Funding

The various projects in progress are funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, the Fonds de Recherche en Santé du Québec, the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada, the Institut de Recherche Robert-Sauvé en Santé et Sécurité du Travail and the Louis-H. Lafontaine Hospital Foundation.


Ethics

All TSC research projects are submitted to and approved by the Louis-H. Lafontaine Hospital’s research ethics committee. (French content)
