Types of Treatment Offered
The TSC offers the latest psychological treatments for victims of traumatic events who have developed PTSD. These treatments are provided by psychologists trained in cognitive-behavioural therapy, the form of PTSD treatment that is currently the most studied and considered the most effective. In general, cognitive-behavioural therapy has a success rate of 70% to 80% for victims of various types of traumatic events.
For more information on PTSD treatments, please consult our section on Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.
Participating in Research on Treatment
All therapies offered at the TSC are part of research projects and are therefore based on high standards of treatment.
The active participation of trauma victims is required in these projects. Trauma victims must meet certain criteria in terms of eligibility and adherence to therapy (e.g., they must take part in evaluations before, during and after therapy).
These conditions are necessary in order to maintain a suitable degree of scientific rigour, to evaluate the efficacy of interventions in an appropriate manner and, ultimately, to develop new therapies or improve currently used treatments.
If you would like to take part in research on post-traumatic stress disorder, please consult our Participants Wanted section.
Partner Organizations
The TSC collaborates with numerous organizations such as the CSST, IVAC and SAAQ, as well as various rehabilitation centres in the Montreal area.
